Hybristophilia- any others out there like me?

Postby remscarlet » Fri Jul 27, 2012 3:50 am

I've dealt with this particular paraphilia since my preteen years. It's only recently, however, that I've been able to put a name to it. I've told a couple of my friends (it wasn't a surprise to any of them), but I don't personally know any other hybristophiliacs. If there are any other people like me on this forum, I would love to chat and to hear your story. :)

As for my story, this is the livejournal entry I wrote about it: http://remscarlet.wordpress.com/2012/07 ... -unwanted/
And just as a disclaimer, I pass no judgement on anyone for their paraphilias, except perhaps on myself. As weird as I consider myself, I'm firmly of the belief of "whatever floats your boat".

I think I already messaged you about this, I hadn't read this yet though. I read the wordpress thing and it was strange, I felt like I was reading something that I wrote myself, I swear. I'm also a huge animal lover, it's what I'm most passionate about in life, and, as cruel as it may sound, I'm much more sad when I hear about the death of an animal than that of a human. It's not just that, a lot of aspects about you and your background are very similar to mine..

I did a presentation on this in our Human Sexuality class. This is common among the followers of criminals ("fans" if you will). It doesn't make you screwed up or a freak. Remember the popular cliché about girls falling for the "bad boy?" I would guess it's hardwired in some of us from our ancient roots, where aggression was a symbol of dominance like in animals. The alpha male gets the choice of female in nature.

Yeah, I've always thought of it as kind of a "bad boy" attraction, but to the extreme. I've always been attracted to the really bad boys, and serial killers are like, the baddest of them all, which in my eyes, is really hot. The thing that's probably most fukced up about me, as that I don't just like them for their dominance, etc, but it's the thought of them actually wacking some girl to death with a shovel that attracts me the most. The killing attracts me, not just their serial killer status, if that makes sense...

Which I know is horrible, it's the truth though.

Morbid? Yes - but I wouldn't necessarily call it horrible. That may be the view society has on such a fetish/paraphilia, but then again, there was and still is a view (though not nearly as prevalent as in the past) that homosexuals are horrible, subhuman beasts, unworthy of their status as human being. That is indeed an interesting take on the whole thing, as most would be attracted to the perpetrator and not necessarily the act itself. Then again, my death metal music library seems to indicate otherwise.

Hi you've probably already read this but this is from wikipedia:Hybristophilia is accepted as potentially lethal, among other such paraphilias including, but not being limited to asphyxiophilia, autassassinophilia, biastophilia and chremastistophilia[2]

Wow I fantasize with all of those, I rarely get turned on by other stuff, but I try to keep myself away from the real thing. Sometimes my fantasies are so big is hard to restrain myself but roleplay helps a lot. I don't even chat with people who would like to murder someone for sexual satisfaction because I'm scared id meet them haha

Yep, I've thought that same thing- that it'd be cool to chat with someone about it, but I know I'd be tempted to meet them in real life, so I avoid doing it, cause I know what a potentially horrible and dangerous idea that could be.

Another thing I wonder about- are people with these sort of fascinations more interested in death, or just the killing aspect of it? Personally, death does nothing for me, it's the actual act of killing, the "pre-death," if you will, that attracts me. I don't want people to die, I genuinely don't, I just want to watch them be killed- which I know is completely contradictory and makes no sense at all. That's just how I can't help but look at it.
