New therapist," May trigger"

Postby watcheroflights » Fri Oct 07, 2011 12:24 am

Hi. All
I got a call this afternoon and was told I got a new therapist. Oh joy! I see this man next week. Let's see how long this one last. Now for us to go through the next 5 days doing the anxiety waltz ,one, two, three, four, until the first therapy session. I am looking forward to this like finger nails on a chalk board. :|
I'm sorry to hear that some are having such hard times with the mental health industry. The sad part is this is so common place. How about some professional ethics and morals! Noooo, greed comes first before most who can least afford it economically and mentally.
I am not going into this to be validated by therapist. He either listens or I will not have a therapist again. I will not be so trusting of this therapist .He is going to have to earn our trust. I will not act as a helpless victim either. He better come to work and wants to hear the truth. Clair is yucky with it being a man but it's what we could get with our limited resources.
Regards
Thomas

Good luck!

Funnily enough today I got a letter through with an appointment with my new therapist, only mine isn't until December.

I can understand that waltz though, played it many a time myself. Yay for apprehension.

Still, time to prepare and get your head straight I guess?

All the best Thomas,

I wish I could say that the anxiety won't last forever...my 4th session with my T is tomorrow and the anxiety never seems to wear away...I really hope this goes well for you.

I've seen 2 male therapists(both were one timers I saw at University for crisis counseling) and I did quite well with them, despite my beliefs that I could only ever truly trust a female therapist, for various reasons. Why does Clair prefer the T not to be a man? She may find that her feelings come more freely than she anticipates, as I did. I am seeing a female therapist right now, but I will never forget those two males who I did see, for they were very gentle and caring. As far as my experiences with Ts go, the gentle ones have been males, and the colder ones were female(until the one I have now. she reminds us of a female version of Mr. Rogers  )

Clair does not trust a lot of males. Our abuser was male. I guess it comes down to that Clair sees males as a damger.Little one does not trust a lot of males either. We will see what the out comes will be.All we can do is hope for the best but be ready for the worst.
Bourbon thanks for the good wishes we do hope your new therapist works out for you.

:( I hope then that this will be a positive, redeeming experience for her, so that she can see the difference between an abusive male and a male who is kind and caring.

Tylas and all
Clair is having an anxiety attack this evening.Everything is under control. She was thinking she will disappear if we see this new therapist.I figured if I put it for the whole world to see that she will understand that I will protect her and she is not going any where.Sorry if this is a bothered to forum members or may have been a trigger to anyone. Also sorry I sent you to my Youtube just was more focused in dealing with the issue. She is just my blue eyed rebel without a cause and we will keep it that way. :D

Hey Claire!

You won't go anywhere! With therapy you will feel better than ever and have someone that all the parts of you can talk to and trust. There is nothing to fear except of course the waiting for that first day you get to talk to this person. You have dealt with so much in your life that I bet you can handle that wait.

If I understand things correctly, you won't ever go anywhere you don't want to Claire and nothing is forced. You will learn to accept and love all your parts.
