Split was good

Postby Hannasue » Sat Jan 21, 2017 6:57 am

TRIGGER WARNING
I just watched split the movie and personally i was actually able to relate to the did character. They did add a few ridiculous elements to the movie like the super natrual but what i liked is that they discussed the controversy for did. The charcater talked about the problems of having did like loosing time and flashbacks. While not common they were there. I would not see this movie however if you are triggered by things like abuse and molestation i would not see it or ready yourself because there are a few scenes of each.
When i walked out of the movie i felt like it wasn't overlly dramatized to much to ruin the movie. My friend even felt bad for some of the alters and i could only think "yep, abuse splits are the worst"
Overall good they did over emphasize chemical brain change and complexity a bit pf DID like co-concious being able to both be in control and write with each hand about two seperate things. (I havn't heard of something like this before)
Feel free to put in yout input!
Scar,Henry,Thistle and many more!

I'm actually tempted to see it. Not sure if it is a good idea for us.

We were already planning to see it because some of us like the actor. It's a good news that it's not so bad! Looking forward to seeing it! :D

Quite common with DID to be able to do many things at once , being aware of it may not be so common.
Usually it is split over several senses, like eyes, ears, body and so forth, one is doing the dishes another is watching television, a third alter is talking to somebody and several are taking a nap.

Best i heard of whas when one of my girls didnt wake from the alarmclock in the morning and continued to sleep until after her meeting. Then another alter woke up and went for the meeting in time.
-I like to sleep long in the mornings myself so i really envied that :)
Another example is when i talk to alters and the host does something completely different.
More tragic is alters that hit the host because the host does something "wrong".
Some systems i have heard of use their multiplicity deliberately, one is going to an amusementpark, the other is reading a soundbook in headphones. then they share their experiences with eachother afterwards, so it is like both have done both with full concentration.
DID is full of stuff that is superhuman :)

Thank you! I have been waiting for someone with DID to watch this film and give us their opinion based on the actual film rather than the trailer.

I heard that M. Night Shyamalan actually did a lot of research on DID, which sounds like him to me. I know from "The Sixth Sense" that Shyamalan studies the subject of his films and has a high attention to detail. That's what I like about his work. Good to know he hasn't changed all that much. :)
We are the Neighborhood, a DID system of over 30 people.
