Meet The Family (As Told By D)

Postby Mr. Bates » Fri Jul 07, 2006 5:08 am

Since I'm sure everyone is just so curious about Mike's system, we all decided to simply map it out for you guys. I know them all, so I'll do the honors. In order of appearance:

Mike: The core of the system, you know him as Bates, which is bit of an inside joke. In the game Clock Tower II, the main character is multiple and her alter's name is Mr. Bates. Very outspoken, a little odd, has been called "painfully honest" by his friends.

D: I'm really not an alter, I'm an ancient spirit being punished by living merely as a shadow to a mortal for all eternity. This time around, I'm roommates with the kid (Mike). I've been around since he was born. We've become very good friends over the years

Smiley: Mike's very first alter. The symbolism of the mirror is Smiley and Mike are exact reflections of one another. Smiley really isn't a horrid being, we love the guy and all, but he has no self-control. The fact is, we're ALL a bit on the homicidal side, even Mike. We're a rather angry bunch. But the difference between us and Smiley is, Smiley can't control himself. His personality is the closest to Mike's, they mirror each other almost exactly. If Mike had no self-control, he would be Smiley. If Smiley had self-control, he would be Mike. We're starting to believe if he did come back, we would be able to control him. On his own he's not so bad, its when he's with the last alter to appear, then he becomes uncontrollable. He is visible in the mirror, sometimes likes to wink or give a quick smirk. In any case, we're not gonna be smashing any mirrors any time soon. Smiley is semi-active

Fred: Shy, quiet, and a mute. Fred used to take almost all of Mike's abuse because he couldn't make a sound, thus ruin his tormentor's fun of trying to make him scream. Fred is dormant.

Liz & Edgar: The "goth twins" as we dubbed them. Liz is the only female alter. Liz is bit of a goth maid, and is very obsessed with cleanliness. During the night, she would get up and clean the house. She was also very prone to cutting. Some of her scars are still visible, though most have healed. Edgar was the poet, and would step foreward not to endure the pain, but to enjoy it. He also was into cutting, leaving some of the more visible marks. Liz and Edgar are dormant.

Frank: Well, we all know who Frank is by now. 27 year old New Yorker, real party boy, loves drinking. Very protective of Mike. Took over Fred's place, and would laugh at the pain and his tormentor(s). Used to go out frequently, party and fight, but not so much anymore now that he's become co-conscience with us. Frank is obviously active, along with myself.

John: A private detective, one of the best. An expert with handguns. Not much else to say, nice guy, I guess. John is dormant

No-Name: If we could truely say we had a roommate we hated, No-Name was it. A psychotic arsonist, with a passion for his hobby and death. He would manipulate Smiley into doing horrenous acts of violence. He is the real reason we ended up in therapy. He had no purpose other than causing all, including the system, to suffer. No-Name is dormant.

Keys & Locks:
D: I never really went away
Frank: Put in the clock for reasons we have yet to remember.
Smiley: The mirror.
No-Name: Deep in an unreachable portion of Mike's mind, chained to the wall, thick titanium door locked and chained shut. 1,000 keys are required to unlock the door. 45 keys are required to unlock No-Name. All the keys are hidden in other unaccessible parts of Mike's mind.

The rest actually fully intergrated with Mike. Parts of their personalities can still be seen through his actions.

That covers it. No need to be confused anymore about us.
- D

Thanks D!
I was thinking about doing the same thing, but I was debating because there are quite a few more of us. Maybe I will do an active one... and just name the inactive ones... as many as i know...
I dont know.

So what is the "me"?
My brain I suppose.
Because I have sort of a voice in my head, the part of me that thinks, that feels, that is aware that I exist at all.

Thank you for your detailed and very informative introduction to Mike's system, D! I have a couple quick questions for you, if you don't mind. If you are an ancient spirit being punished into being a mortal's shadow, what is it you are being punished for doing? Who punished you? Were you ever an independent, non-shadow, human being? If so, who were you then and when was it?

Okay so maybe that's more than just a couple questions and not really all that quick. I'm a curious person.

Umm, lots and lots of bad things to piss off God, don't worry about the details. Basically, before He created solid mortal beings, everyone was a free-roaming spirit, aka an angel. So yes, I was an independent being. I'm gonna spare you the long story, mostly cuz I'm too tired to type it all, plus your mind would probably explode and really do a number on what you know about religion.

And Lark, do whatever's easier for you. Just listing the inactives is fine.

Ok, don't let me shock you, but this is the way it is....

In order of developement:

Carol is/was the original personality, the core, if you will, the one born to this body. However, she has NOT been active since '98.

Julius: The guardian, protector was originally born to take the pain of the abusers. But, He reframed his character traits to be a fighter instead. He has a fierce temper, so don't cross Him. Other than that, He's a teddy bear, sensual, a thinker, reasoner, and a pretty damn good poet too. Also, a light bdsm Master.....

Billy: That's me... I'm the most dominant guy here. And I was created to take pain, need pain, crave pain, and deal with the abusers. And subserviently, I did/do.

Craig: dormant... He's quiet until you get to know him, then look out. He'll talk your ear off. Very sensitive, sensual, lecherous, so watch out if he talks to you long. He'll make a pass at you. lol... He's also an intellectual, gives good advice. And kinda like the father figure in here.

Doug: semi-active... intellectual, into medicine and phychology. Loves the study of the mind.

Ben: semi-active... shy, curious, boyish

Gary: active... heavy bdsm Master... and often a smart ass, will tell you exactly what He thinks. So, don't take anything He says, personal. He's also an excellent writer of spontaneous verse poetry, though He doesnt' think so. He's really into mind seduction more than anything.

Keven: dormant... funny guy, that Keven... lol.. comic relief type.

Mitch: semi-active... dormant at the moment... caretaker, peacemaker; hates conflict and will rack his brain to try to resolve a fight.

Dale: semi-active... feminist gay. LOL... funny, sweet, gentle, sensitive, and loves to shop. omg..... LOL...

Eric: semi-active... gentle, sensitive, child-like heart but not a child. Caring, giving, very tenderhearted. He loves Christmas and he's the one you'd like to go christmas shopping with.

Terry: semi-active... child... He's the youngest of us and very seldom active, unless he wants to come out and play, or warn an adult of impending harm to the body or person. A very tenderhearted and emotional child, very sensitive, so handle with care.

Did I miss anybody? hehehe....
