Hi DID, Something that has really helped me lately is letting all my alters, or whoever wants to, write what they have to say. We have a topic like "how do you communicate?" then as each alters forms a response we write it down next to their name. We started with simple questions and now we are able to have some pretty good discussions.
It did take me a very long time to be able to do this. Sometimes it takes a few weeks before i'm sure everyone who wants to talk has had their turn and some alters still don't participate. But for the most part it has helped me understand all my parts and how they fit into the system.
Hope I was able to help, good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I have never quite got this concept, so to be clear. Your alters cannot talk to each other when they are inside. But the come outside and don't share memory with each other, so they leave each others notes in a journal. Are those notes about your childhood or about current day?

I can hear my alters talking to eachother but it's like they're in another room. I can hear them and the different voices but I can't make out what they are saying or who it is. I try to concentrate real hard but end up with a headache.
Letting my alters identify themselves in a journal helped. We call it having a meeting. I always choose a topic. Usually present day issues like "who's afraid to go to the gym" or " why aren't we taking our medications" Of course we keep the journal handy for any alter who needs to share a past memory or needs to say something to our T.

Do you hear them all talking at once to each other, or one at a time just talking to you? I don't hear anything except on rare occasions, then it scares me. That is a good idea about the questions. I will give it a try. Thanks.

I'm not really sure.

Most the time they are just all talking to each other but sometimes I just say something out loud and I know it wasn't me who said it. Sometimes I know right away who said it but other times I just can't figure it out.
My T is pretty good at knowing who it is she's talking to and my alters tend to take turns talking when we see her. I think because we trust her and know she's there to help us. But when i'm talking to my SO it's hard to concentrate on what i'm saying and he gets confused too.
I don't know if i'm making any sense now?
