Alcohol and DID. Possible trigger?

Postby TheManyFacesOfMe » Wed Oct 09, 2013 7:48 pm

I drink at times. I am a really happy person when drinking and am fun to be around. I don't ever get drunk though. I drink for the taste. i got drunk one time and i was really happy and felt really happy laughed and carried on lol. But I also noticed that my russian personality came out one time while drinking. Well partially. He allows me to drink more without feeling drunk. He loves alcohol. I like drinking too. I am casual about it and wouldnt go partying. I just like having a glass of rum or wine. Or shots of vodka sometimes. I would drink Bourbon more often too, but i don't have the opportunity to yet. I know some of you all are triggered by people who drink, thats why i put a trigger warning here. Has alcohol ever triggered an alter to take over for any of you? I have since integrated, and now when i do it, it is just me. I haven't drank in almost a year. I am 20. That is why i haven't. But in my state if your parents give you the ok, you can drink. And they did. But now they told me to wait until i am 21. Which i am going to. They told me that because in a few months ill be 21. Even though i am legally an adult, ill wait. But the jist of what i was wanting to ask, is does alcohol trigger other personalities to come out when you are drinking, if you do, or does just being around it trigger you?

TW*** drug talk

Switching while inebriated isn't something I consider when examining my dissociative experiences. Dissociative tests state that answers should be given based on experiences that occur while not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and this is something I always keep in mind when reviewing my behaviour. Substances drastically alter personality even in singletons and cause memory loss, therefore despite feeing massive personality shifts while high or drunk, and losing time, I can't know if these have occured because of the inebriants or because an alter took over. I do believe other mind-states have compelled me to drink and get high and still attempt to. Last year following seven years of sobriety I got myself a small coke problem and had someone come out and buy even when I didn't want to. I am hesitant to go to Liverpool even now because whenever I go there this alter will go right ahead and buy some.

Trigger* I am irish, russian, and german, And one of the alters i had was russian and spoke russian. When i drank one time, he came out. thats not the only time he come out though. But integration has made me one person. But I know where you are coming from, drugs are dangerous. Coke especially. I have never done drugs. I drink only, and even then i don't get drunk. i generally just have me a glass of rum. I love the taste of it. Bourbon is good also. But i don't drink much. in fact i haven't drank in a year. But i will again soon. I am a man who loves sampling exquisite drinks, I love fancy wine and wines and Rums and different beers and whatnot. I stay away from alcohol that is really strong and is only good for getting drunk though. I want absinthe. never had it but would love to get some, because it is something that i have never had, but also it is a spirit that is considered to be a luxury drink. if i get a decent job, ill sample fine wines and all of that. I am competing in a competition for cisco systems inc. the stakes are high too. I could get hired on if i win it, but i get to go to san jose if i win. or make it in the top 10.

*Possible Trigger Warning?* Whenever I drink, we all come out. Alcohol makes me really switchy and because of that, everyone takes advantage of it and comes out. It's the one time that absolutely all of us are co-conscious. My alcohol tolerance is pretty low, but I like drinking anyway; Michael can drink a shitload and it'll take him forever to get drunk; Z's close to that, but not quite. Katryna doesn't drink, and Ashley's a lightweight too but loves to drink. Erika doesn't drink, and Kass only did sometimes. B doesn't seem to be affected by alcohol, but comes out more than usual when the body is drunk. Now that Kelly is an active part of the system and is only 7, we're going to have to be more careful about drinking. We have to ensure that she won't come out then, but I think she'd want to, so we're stopping getting off-our-asses drunk for a while and just drinking a little.

Well. Those silly Russians. :D Mae is Russian. Maybe it's just the stereotype that Russians all drink a lot. Mae jokes that she doesn't have blood, just straight vodka.

We've started drinking a lot in only the past two weeks, because I really hate drinking so I stay away from it.. but then Ophelia started having her Kahlua and half-and-half, and then Mae pretty much went, "If you get your alcohol, I get mine." And she is almost done with her second large bottle of vodka in under two weeks. I'm a little afraid her drinking is going to turn into a problem for me. I'll see how that goes.

I have maybe three shots of vodka, I have to be done. I have a super low tolerance. That much gets me to a happy place, and maybe a little nauseous but nowhere near as bad as around five/six shots. ..Whereas, Mae drank literally half the bottle last night, and barely even got more talkative. She even took initiative and wrote a long-ass letter to my brother (who has refused to speak to me since I've "come out" about my DID). My fiance read it over today and asked how many spelling mistakes or re-writes she had. Which was zero. He didn't believe us.

I wonder what Mae would be like actually drunk. She's been smiling a hell of a lot more now that she's allowed to drink on the outside instead of just inside.

Err also, when I came out earlier this morning (or I should say yesterday morning, it's 2am now D: ) I had an AWFUL hangover with the super-intense migraine. She switched out to "save" me from that, and either it didn't affect her at all or her willpower beat it as she went about our errands.

I personally think that.. from a psychological viewpoint.. during alter "creation" our brain gave her that super high tolerance because here in California (and US in general, I'd say) we have that stereotype that Russians pretty much BREATHE vodka. Maybe they do. A lot of Mae's penpals there do drink quite a lot, but they say pretty much only on weekends, and during weekdays beer is the accompaniment to meals.

I'm not sure if any of my post made sense, I'm really tired and feel flu-ish. Meh. So, that's my opinion.

I am russian. well half russian. I would drink a lot of vodka if i was of age. Not alcoholic like. I would drink good vodka. I like grey goose. And this local vodka that is in my state. Vodka is pretty much the only alcohol i drink when i do. Maybe wine too. When i say i would drink a lot i mean a glass with meals and maybe before i go to bed. When i take a glass and drink it before going to bed, i go to sleep. I have horrible insomnia. Alcohol sort of takes care of that. And i don't have to drink enough to get buzzed or drunk. Just a glass. One small glass doesnt even get me buzzed, but has a profound effect on my ability to sleep. And, unlike sleeping pills, to me, its not addictive. I've taken sleeping pills before, they are kind of addictive. I stopped taking them because they were addictive. Then i tried drinking before going to bed, and that had a better effect than sleeping pills. So thats what i'll do. Right now, my antipsychotic medication helps me sleep, so i don't do it now. But i am about to be taken off my meds in december, so i am not sure how ill sleep. Either way, I'll still sleep fine. Because if i can't sleep, another thing i can do that i am of age to do is smoke a cigar. the nicotine calms my mind down. So before bed, ill go outside and smoke. Even though i am not of age to drink, in my state, as i said before, if your parents are ok with it you can drink. So maybe ill get them to say its ok. i dont know why the legal drinking age isnt 20. Its dumb. I am old enough to consent to drinking. i am old enough to know what it does to my body and what effect it has on me, and to not drink and drive or drink and shoot guns. I told my dad when i drink i wanted him to lock up my gun, just to be safe. I am not violent when drinking nor would i use a gun, but i told him to in case one of my friends is too and they are drunk also. Alcohol has a good effect on me, but my mom doesnt like people who drink because trigger warning* she got held at gunpoint by someone who was drunk. Actually it was her aunt. But she saw it, and the guy chased her aunt with a fireaxe. she dissociates sometimes and has what i may call an alter based on what i have had, and seeing her. this alter is her age when it happened, but it isnt the only trauma shes had. I don't want to reveal what happened to her when she was really young, but it affected her and gave her alters. she is 62 now. I love her dearly, but she has a lot of fear in her heart. She thinks i'll act that way when drinking. I am really happy when i have been drinking. where usually i may scream at someone for asking me a question or telling me to do something (I have a problem with authority and being asked questions by people sometimes) I will get up and do it, or i will answer it politely. I am more nice when i have been drinking a little bit, not necessarily buzzed or drunk. I usually am more open to people and funnier and just nicer in general. If she saw me she would love me drinking lol. But the one time i had been drinking around her my dad knew, but my mom didnt. and she commented on how nice i was being. :D Alcohol can be a problem for some people though, no doubt about it.

Drinking alcohol triggers Chloe to come out. She's more likely to get violent if scared. We're careful under what circumstances we drink. X

I have discovered that when I (the host) drink, none of the parts usually come out or talk much- in fact, they seem to hide away somewhere (unless at a large gathering/ party, when the super-social one comes out). So, and I know it's bad for me to do, but I've started to drink somewhat often in order to have them go away for a bit so I can just be me. Not drunk- that's a totally different thing with different results- but just a few drinks. It makes me remember things clearly... kinda funny, since the saying is that people drink to forget, but I drink to remember!
