What's the general consensus on alcohol for people with DID? Does it make them happy, sad, angry, truthful, pathologically dishonest?
I only assume I have DID because others have made the generalization...that and BPD.
Anywho...for me i usually catch a buzz and pass out.

Alcohol is okay in moderation for me only when my system is stable. Does tend to make the littles pop out ( not a bad thing but just want to keep them safe) & my therapist has encouraged me to avoid it until I am more stable.

the way alcohol affects me widely varies. i've had times where i'm able to drink a whole litre bottle of amaretto or something of similar strength in one sitting without getting ill (not condoning drinking irresponsibly), then other times i can only have a few sips and i'll be dizzy and nauseous. my heavier drinking is pretty random; currently it's just making me ill after a small amount. i have had the child-state a lot more present recently so i wonder if it's a somatic response.
the effect varies as well. it can make me loud and giddy, stupid, happy, laid back, emotional, pissed off, sharp and witty, over-amorous; i never really know which at what time. it can dull the inner voices or it can make them louder. i've never liked alcohol as a coping method and i can get extreme hangovers so it hasn't been an inebrient i've had problems with in an addictive sense.

Alcohol makes us very switchy and dissociated after about a drink. Some of us get very uh... social... but it makes other depressed or aggressive so we try to keep away.

Yeah after too many drinks I can be really overly social. I think I scare people. In the end i'm better off keeping cool as best I can.

i just asked this question because i didnt see this post. My other alter used to come out when drinking but he was very social when drinking i have since integrated, and I drink for the flavor still. My favorite is Rum. I like bacardi and Goslings black seal rum. i love wine too. I never do it to get drunk. when i drink vodka, its to help me sleep. I take a few shots and then go to bed. It makes me happy when drunk, and makes me tired after drinking a few shots. or drinking a glass of rum too.
I survived psychiatric medications without getting bad side effects.

I would have no way of knowing of any alters rly. From what I've heard, the combination of liquor or any drug for that matter and DID does not account for an alter....OR at least, an alter does not qualify as an alter if it comes out while on drugs.
Though certainly some could very well be accused of seeming like different people when intoxicated. I wish I were better informed on this disorder.
