has anyone found out?

Postby oaktree » Sun Dec 30, 2012 6:49 pm

I have posted a list of names here of what I think may be parts/alters, but now I'm afraid people find out I'm here on this forum via the names. (I have checked this, it is very easy, just put the four names in Google). So, now I'm afraid of telling people their names, in case they find out. I have already told my T, but he has never shown a sign that he knows it.

Have people ever found out you're posting here? Do people actually ever search for it?

I might come up with a nickname for each part that I don't share with other people, but even then it will take a while before the last traces are gone (if they are ever gone). The (new) forum rules are pretty clear about it: they won't normally change posts (I have, I think, only stated the four names together in one or two posts). So, yeah, I'm kinda screwed now.
Dx: PDD-NOS. Tested for dissociative disorders and PTSD but they say the symptoms are attributable to PDD-NOS.

Those that know about all my alters names are my T (but she's a story on her own, but it's safe to say she wouldn't search me up), my SO (who knows my username and we have a deal about what's comfortable for us in regards to what she sees on here) and 2 of my friends. Of these friends I've told 1 I'm not comfortable having her read here and she respects that, and the other doesn't understand the computer much.

It has been an issue for me in regards to safety from those who are searching for me (the abusers) though so that's why we don't have the full name of everyone - none of those that have a name that might risk that someone I don't want to would understand who we are. We also have shortened those that have names that are completely theirs and no one has the same, even in google searches (like Eliesa's or Piz' full names).

That's how we've done it at least :)

Thank you, lifelongthing! I hadn't thought about shortening their names. I have now changed most of them, just to put me at ease. They may change in the future, but I'll settle on some one day.

This also explains why most of your names are so short :).

Actually fewer than one would think, but yeah - there's quite a few
R. & M. is obviously shortened, as is Sia's (sort of - her name is mostly entirely changed) too. Otherwise there's only Piz & Eliesa's :)

But yeah, it's worked for us :)
I'm glad I was able to help make things a bit more comfortable for you :)
