Not allowed to talk

Postby LittleRedDogToo » Thu Dec 13, 2012 11:17 pm

Today I had something happen that I've never experienced before.
My teen has been crying and upset a lot, so my T asked her what was wrong and if it was related to the flashback we've been dealing with. The teen said she didn't want to talk about it which is pretty usual, but then one of the protectors came out and ushered the teen away and said very firmly, "Stop asking questions. We will not talk about this right now." Then she wouldn't say anything else.
Why would she do that?
We're not invited.

Sometimes, things are too overwhelming or difficult to talk about, and you have to take a break away from focusing on what's wrong before you can talk about it. I think the Protector thought that this was one of those times. Perhaps ask your T to come back to this topic after a session or two?

Well, S3 is rarely wrong and I don't think she'd steer us wrong, so I guess we'll talk about this particular flashback later.

Well, yes, this is quite strange for me sometimes...

It appears that I'm not allowed to talk about certain things, but I'm allowed to write it down! Gets annoying at times. But at least I know it is some sort of rule, and not just because I'm afraid or something. It happens with some other things too.

Offtopic: ** trigger warning ** I wouldn't know how to explain this with the trauma (?) I had, maybe only with the SA pictures/descriptions I had. Not being allowed to talk would make a lot more sense there.
Dx: PDD-NOS. Tested for dissociative disorders and PTSD but they say the symptoms are attributable to PDD-NOS.

I have been working on this problem from the beginning and still have not got much of anywhere, except I have been working with the specific alters that follow Father's rules.

Blocking inner communication
All guilty raise your hands!

Matthew - (EP) L1 (Father Introject)
Sir Rat - (EP) L1 (Father introject)
M Snake - (EP) L1 (Mother introject)
Frank Tarantula - (EP) L1 (Father introject)
M VIII - (EP) L2 (Mother introject)

They have all gone to the shower to wash away introjected burdens and to understand well that Father is dead and has been dead for 20 years! They were still afraid so other alters will "plop" into them to help with the fear. What MIII L3 (my hillbilly) dubbed plopping is when another alters comes close to a hurting or scared one and comforts them. Is close to them so they are not alone and afraid.

Anyway, this is what I am doing, but still all alters can talk to each other inside. They can all come out and talk, but now I am also there and listening they cannot say many things. I have always been able to ask them any question and they can answer yes or no. That does not seem to break any rules.

I don't know how to break Father's rules!

This happens to me all the freaking time! It gets very frustrating and makes therapy so slow. Like when the T asks a question and Gemma comes out and tells him it's 'None of his damn business'
