Highly Sensitive Person Test

Postby Little Boy Lost » Thu May 10, 2012 9:30 am

This is a brief explanation of what "highly sensitive person" means.

The Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) scale is a measure of sensory-processing sensitivity, which is conceptualized as involving both high levels of sensitivity to subtle stimuli and being easily overaroused by external stimuli. The current study examines the relationship between an individual's sensory-processing sensitivity, self-perceived stress, and phsyical symptom reports. Results indicated that sensory-processing sensitivity is positively correlated with levels of stress and symptoms of ill-health. After controlling for self-perceived stress and gender, the HSP scale added significantly to a hierarchical regression model predicting self-reported health.

Here is the test: http://www.hsperson.com/pages/test.htm

I scored 0. I think avoidants will score high but I doubt many will be high enough to be HSPs. I could be wrong.

Interesting- I scored 22. Did I pass?

I did not point three out of the rest. But besides the coffee one, the other two I was hesitant in answering positively. I don't see it as being negative however, and being highly sensitive has more positives than negatives on my personal perspective. Thanks for the test!

I had 14. I think it said over 14 was highly sensitive. So I guess I'm still normal?

It didn't have that many questions though, so it might not be that accurate.

it's the same scale that they're talking about in the study abstract posted in the OP

Oh, didn't realize that. I guess it is accurate then. I just found it pretty short, that's all.

26 out of 27. Not surprised at all, though.

I answered no to: "I make a point to avoid violent movies and TV shows." I don't particularly enjoy violence and I'm generally against it, but in the right contexts it can be entertaining.

Btw, forgot to mention this in your last thread here. I'm not avoidant. Self-diagnosed schizoid.

Side note: also scored 18 out 20 on the sensation-seeking test.
