Movies with an Aspergers character

Postby Lyra » Thu Feb 07, 2013 9:34 pm

I have seen (or attempted to see) a couple movies with male characters who have Asperger's Syndrome. But, I am wondering if anyone knows of any movie that features a female character with Asperger's -or appears to have Aspergers. They seem few and far between. Thanks.

Don't know about movies but there's a scandanavian TV series called "The Bridge" (original Broen) that has a defintiely Aspie female lead, Saga Noren. It's a Danish, Swedish co-production and she apparently represents the Danish view of the Swedes, while the male Lead represents the Swedish view of the Danes.

Regardless, I fould it entertaining anf identified with Saga all the way through, despite being male.
I try to take one day at a time but sometimes several days attack me all at once.

If Michael Scott from the American version of "The Office" doesn't have Asperger's Syndrome it's a little to uncanny for me ^^;
There's also the kid from "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close." Though that movie didn't get very good reviews.

I can't think of any movies, no. However here's an]article about Heather Kuzmich who has Aspergers and was on America's Next Top Model: http://antm411.com/heather-kuzmich-2/

There was also a character with "self-diagnosed Aspergers" introduced on Glee in season 3 named Sugar. She also can't sing, but thinks she's better than everyone else. Sadly, despite her strong introduction on the show, she faded into the background and hasn't been seen on the last couple episodes (with no explanation, as far as I can tell.) The actress who plays her has been filming a pilot for ABC, so I guess that's why she hasn't even been seen in the background of Glee lately.
Unknown: And here I thought 'angioplasty' was plastic surgery to look like Angelina Jolie...

Apparently, the main character in the girl with the dragon tattoo has asperger's syndrome.
I've not read or seen it but I did read somewhere that in book the main character is suggested as having asperger's syndrome.

I did not know that. I've not seen the movies or read the books either, although The Girl series seems to be quite popular.

Really? I've seen the movies, and I really don't see her as an aspie. She seems more like she has PTSD in my eyes. Maybe she's portrayed different in the American version, but she certainly doesn't seem like an aspie in the swedish versions.

I read this on wikipedia.
'Throughout the series, Blomkvist speculates that Salander might have Asperger syndrome.'

Mikael Blomkvist is a fictional character created by writer Stieg Larsson who appears as the main character of the Millennium series along with Lisbeth Salander.

Like I said, I haven't read the book or seen any of the movies but apparently there is reference to it in the book.

I can't say I know any myself, no. There is a PC game that ultimately features a female with Asperger's but I don't really want to name it for fear of ruining.
There's that smell again...
