Because she never told me in detail, and I'm not going to press the issue. I imagine, since she doesn't have any "old friends", that he isolated her from them. Therefore, she was on the run, alone. And since she had a stun gun and mace in her purse when I found her, she did try to protect herself and failed. I do know that she has deep contempt for the officers who promised to aid her effort in escape, only to leave her at the mercy of her abuser. She did press charges, and he got two years. He's out on parole now.
