whats wrong with some people?

a professor that im supposed to have next semester actually emailed me this today

I took a first look at the class list of PHYS 4**. You should not be
on it. Most of the other students are seniors, with a few juniors. It
is way too early, you would not have a chance. Moreover, you do not
have the pre-requisites. Drop now, do not waste your time and mine.

ok, correct me if im wrong... but what a DICK this guy is


he failed to see that all the credits I have from this school are ONLY for my major (as im getting my general requirements from a cheaper school)
and that ive taken almost every other class there is in the department required

but nevermind the fact that he's wrong, even if he WASNT ignorant and was correct, isnt that just the most nastiest way to let someone know ?

At a time like this, when someone brings me down like that, I say, watch me prove you wrong. If the class does seem quite tough for you, work harder. Don't drop it, don't give up. I know you're smarter than this guy thinks, so just go for it and prove him wrong!

I wonder if he's doing it to try and scare you though, like motivation? I heard some teachers have done this before just to motivate them, but I could be wrong. :]

I hope you pass this class with flying colors and prove him wrong!

I'm sick of it too, but we keep on moving. :]

i responded to him as kindly as i could in email last night by THANKING him for his concern and explaining the situation and then THANKING him again for his time and consideration , and this is his response ....

"ive already looked at your transcript" (isnt that illegal???) "you are going to fail, but it is your choice to take it in the end. just make sure you dont use your failure in this class as an excuse for failing your other classes"

This guy is such a $#%^, no_one. I can't belive he said this to you. I hope you can still take the class and prove him wrong. He's an idiot.

Unbelievable, well maybe not. If this person was in any other setting other than academia, I would suggest that you contact his department head, but that usually isn't very effective with tenured (bullet-proof) professors.

Knowing how some of the egomaniacs are, I would want to know if he is the only one that teaches the course. I don't know if I would be willing to pay money to subject myself to this kind of abuse if there was another option. Plus the grade you "earn" might be a bad reflection on your GPA.

If you have to take it now, then be willing to fight the uphill battle. It sounds like he knows that he can whittle his class size down to the minimum and make less work on his part. You might ask him if he would be willing to let you audit his class and see if that softens him up any.

If you really want to scream out your disgust to the world, there is a site called Rate Your Professor which allows you to post online reviews, good or bad, of college professors. Just watch out for any libel issues.

You have wasted like 2 hours of your life writing this jajaja, as simple as dude, ignore him, your much happier than he is because you know what we know, that we are sick of that kind of people! Turning your back and having a nice relax breath will make him go mad and maybe will sort of touch him and make him re-consider his totally childish attitude!
