Have you given any thought as to why this is happening?
You can use the forum to vent a little...

I recently underwent thyroid removal for cancer. (5/05/2017) I've been in pain since, which adds to my irritability.

Have you consulted with your doctor about the continuing pain? There may be medications available for the pain. Are you undergoing continuing treatments post-surgery? The stress of pain and ongoing treatment can cause mood changes.
Has your doctor prescribed thyroid meds to help your body regulate heartbeat, body temp, and other functions? Irritability may also be a possible side effect of your body making adjustments and that it may take some time for the mood to smooth out.
Has the situation with your gf improved or not? Are there some things she doesn't seem to understand?
I can understand that a major surgery creates mental shifts that some ppl aren't prepared for...
