My friend's had Trichotillomania for i don't know how long. Any tips for me to help her get through it? She doesn't like talking about it.

Hi,
It's typical for a pesron in this position to find it difficult to open up to those close to them. If it's really developing into a big problem such that it's affecting her quality of life, then I think that you should at least suggest that she goes to see her local doctor or a counsellor at her college/university. Another option would be to print-off information about Trichotillomania from the Internet and give it to her to read in her own time.

my suggestion for you is to just let her know that you are there for her. if she doesn't want to talk about it she doesn't have to. but if she needs to open up and needs to get it off her chest, let her know that you are there for her and are willing to listen. maybe you can even tell her about this website.. its pretty anonymous so sometimes it's easier to talk here where people don't know you but are going through the same things so they understand.
when i first started looking up information about trich it made me feel very depressed because i felt very alone. so this place may be a good outlet for her.
hope all is well, keep up updated. =]
