If youve taken birth control or been pregnant can you help?

Postby LittleBrianne » Fri Jul 04, 2008 5:04 am

While I was on birth control my eyelashes/eyebrows grew back very quickly. I recently quit birth control, (and I had no idea the hormones could have this effect but after this happened I found out it is common after quitting the pill or having a baby) - my hair has virtually stopped growing! Unfortunately I now have a bare patch on one of my eyelids - my lashes would have normally grown back by now but nothing new has grown for about 2 weeks. The internet says this is because the hormones put my hair into a continual growth pattern, and now after quitting the pill the "resting stage" has caught up to me.

If I didn't have trich I wouldn't be worried because it is supposed to return to normal within 2-6 months, but since I do have it am I doomed to have a bare patch forever? I'm hoping I didn't do permanent damage.

Did anyone else experience hair loss/stopped growth after the pill or pregnancy, and did your hair go back to normal? I'm 28 and have had trich for 15 years...wow 15 years I've never said that before. Please help!

Well about 3 weeks into no growth I finally see a little bit of regrowth...WHEW! I hope it goes back to normal...this might be a big enough scare to get me to quit altogether - fingers crossed. I also never want to go back on the birth control pill either...I'm going to look into using the Baby Comp or Lady Comp.

LittleBrianne

I have had three pregnancies and have a full head of hair and plenty of eyelashes.

It is possible that hormones can be affecting your hair growth, but I think it should be temporary.
