I am currently 19 and I got the symptom at the age of about 13 and I never got help for it. Over the years, It has become more manageable and until few weeks ago (for about 6 months), my tick (sound) was basically gone. Now It came back, at much lower intensity than it used to be but still very annoying to have. Am I growing out of tourette's and is this one of those "flare-ups" you get once in a while or did I never grow out of it at all? I was very excited about growing out of it but after this symptom came back, I am very depressed.

Heya,
It has been reported that people 'grow out' of Tourette's as they enter adulthood, which could be what is happening to you. I think that, generally, the tics don't actually disappear... it is more likely that you become more familiar with things that trigger them and can manage them better. So, it's more about coping with them as you age, as opposed to them actually just vanishing. Does that make sense?
