demon possession

Postby Exiled. » Tue Oct 13, 2009 10:34 pm

A friend of my dad brought someone home with him. Told me he had demons and that's why he did funny things. They were going to do deliverance.

Then he tic'd. Later I put two and two together with tourette's.

Anyone have similiar experiences? I imagine something that's showy and not all that scary like tourette's would have lot's of misguided people trying their hand a casting out demons...

No, I have not had such an experience but there's obviously something more there than just Tourette's, don't you think, Exiled? By the way, was this guy just a friend of your father?

Oh I think you misread what I said... The friend of my father thought the other guy had demons. I don't know what the guy who had tourette's thought. And he might have had something else, sure, but it would be the equivalent to tourette's. The friend of my dad has some issues, yeah...

Just curious how many times people with this disorder have people walk up to them and say that they have demons. But it is only curiosity based on a background growing up in a fundamentalist environment.

I think I know what you mean now, but I can't imagine that it's very common at all. If anything, I think that the comment made in the example you've given was just a playful/joking comment. maybe you and the guy with tourette's took it too seriously.

No it wasn't a joke. I've been through some of those deliverances before. They tried to cast the demon of muteness out of me.

Guess my family is special. And now I'm emarrassed about this thread.

okay, would you like the thread to be erased? The ball is in your court. I feel a little confused over much of what you've written here, by the way, and I think that others would be a bit confused too. What i'm trying to say is that anyone reading this c ould never really trace it back to the real 'you', if you get me.

Take Care,

Actually I've worked with a few people with Tourette's and they often describe it as there's something inside of them that they want out. One person I saw in a documentary said it's like Gollum with his precious ring where you're so connected you feel like you're the same thing, but the tic is different than you-it's another part of you. I've always thought it was just a metaphor, but it's an interesting thought that it could be something spiritual. Who is to say that things like demons and spiritual aspects of life can't cause mental illness? We know faith and religion help to prevent certain mental illnesses.
