My legs keep giving out

Postby toddelagwinir » Thu Feb 22, 2018 5:26 pm

I have had Tourette's for the past three years. Recently my legs have started giving out. In the last few days its been happening a lot. Is this normal? Could it indicate something else? They get kind of tingly at first and I can feel it coming on before it happens. I do not get that tingly feeling with my other tics, also this tic seems to be especially exhausting. Does anyone else have this?

I would make an appointment with your primary physician. They can refer you on to a specialist if necessary. There is no way that I diagnose you from here.
As for personal experience, I did have a pinched nerve in my lumbar area a few years ago that made my legs tingly and fall asleep as you describe. I would have to find a shopping cart or similar wheeled cart to use as a 'walker' to get around.
My boss saw me stumble sideways without support once and that is what pushed me to go get it checked out by a doctor.
Best of luck to you. :D

Sounds more neuromuscular than neurological to me. I would go to your primary care doctor and explain it to him. I wouldn’t think that this has anything to do with your TS, unless one of your ticks is to rotate the leg repeatedly in a way that rolls the nerve into the joint space, in which case you would likely need to wear a brace to restrict the tic. Good luck.
