How do you find a doctor who will objectively reassess your diagnosis, look at your history, and possibly help you get off meds and possibly even change your diagnosis?

You need a referral to a different Psychiatrist. Possible from a primary care doctor or a therapist. But there is no guarantee that he will change your diagnosis. You could spend a couple of hundred dollars and retain your diagnosis.
Bipolar 1 managed with a juicy cocktail of Lithium/Neurontin/Seroquel; a little Xanax and Ambien, lots of fish oil, supplements, exercize, and CBT therapy.

Peter R. Breggin, MD, has been called "The Conscience of Psychiatry" for his efforts to reform the mental health field. He has created a new organization to bring together professionals and laypersons concerned with a critical analysis of biopsychiatry and with more effective empathic approaches in mental health and education.

A Guide for Prescribers, Therapists, Patients and their Families By Peter Breggin, M.D

Most psychiatric drugs can cause withdrawal reactions, sometimes including life-threatening emotional and physical withdrawal problems. In short, it is not only dangerous to start taking psychiatric drugs, it can also be dangerous to stop them. Withdrawal from psychiatric drugs should be done carefully under experienced clinical supervision. Methods for safely withdrawing from psychiatric drugs are discussed in Dr. Breggin's new book
I survived psychiatry.
