theorhetical, would it work? would you do it?

for this instance, lets say the disorders involved are fully psychologic
with either NO physical manifestations, or manifestations that are found to be negligable

now lets say theres a new therapy option available, lets say its a single pill
the caveat; total reset of the brain.
right down to leading to a 50% chance that you will need to relearn how to
walk, talk, read, count, etc
(how ever since the neuro pathways are already made relearning motorskills
will happen at a faster than original rate so learning to physicaly function again
would be comparable to physical therapy rates, rather than an infant learning to control its body

firstly, is anyone knowlegable in the proper fields, to comment on wether such a total reset
is even possible, and if it actually would/could eliminate mental disorders
(not caused by physical anomaly ie; gland or receptor malfunction)

and secondly, would you proceed with such a treatment knowing,
that youll come out the otherside, with no memories prior to taking the pill
you would not recognise friends or family, past events, likes, dislikes, fears,
you might not even come out the "same person"
even if you leave yourself a "this is from you" guide to being the person you wanted to be

personally,
im at the point, as hard as it would be to forget the couple people who really do care
after the treatment it wont matter, so
yeah, i would definately choose such treatment,
and even if my post treatment self dont take guidance from pretreatment me
i wouldnt have the memory to care about it right?
and hopfully with the mental illnesses and personality flaws gone
id be able to be a happy functional member of society

My MI has made me into who I am today, so no I would not.
Gosh, it disturbs me to see you, Gaston
Looking so down in the dumps
Every guy here'd love to be you, Gaston
Even when taking your lumps
There's no man in town as admired as you
You're everyone's favorite guy
Everyone's awed and inspired by you
And it's not very hard to see why!

If it wouldn't make me forget everything, and I am able to be supported by someone then perhaps, but rather let's go with another way of looking at this.

First off if you erase memory you don't fix anything except the bad memories. Now don't get me wrong. Those can definitely haunt a person enough to make for a disorder. Problem is the brain gets settled and cozy over time of being a certain way. This causes the brain to for instance fester in depression even if it can't remember the bad memories. The brain up till then was producing a bunch of chemicals to enhance the depression, so it would continue to do so if it isn't chemically balanced out for quite some time.

If the bad memories are erased then you also run the risk of doing something you forget you shouldn't, not recognizing people who mean you ill will etc.

So yeah with enough money supporting me while I'm working on motor skills and such, and if I had my memories I'd maybe consider it. Without at least that hell no.
