I've been through so many therapists, and nothing seems to work. its not because of them though. I just feel like I can't trust them. we talk, of course, but only about simple things. waking into therapy only gives me more anxiety to be honest, and I always end up leaving feeling worse than when I arrived. I can never seem to really tell them what I'm feeling, and I only scratch the surface of the problems I'm dealing with... Any advice for learning how to open up to your therapist?
thanks,
flower

Telling your therapist you don't trust them and that you're having trouble talking about more than simple things is a good start. If you tell the therapist you don't trust them, you will have a chance to think about and discuss why you don't trust them. Beware of any therapist that insists you can trust them. Instead you want a therapist that is able to help you link your current trust issues to their origins in your past. You know that you are not going to trust your therapist, therefore the problem is not with the therapist you see but with where your origins of mistrust lie.
