I have been hurt by a man a few years ago. I have a trauma basically now. But then i discovered that this man had been in love all along. So now we are willing to be together. But my trauma makes me suspicious of him. I am afraid of him. I am cold and distant. And i am afraid of sexual contact with him.
Can an EMDR help? What kind of therapy would yoy recommend?
Thank you!

If you are psychologically-minded short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy because it may give you the possibility to put the reason why this incident was able to traumatize you into perspective and give you a deeper understanding of your mind. EMDR by itself I wouldnt reommend in such a context, because, while it might desensitize you, it will not give you any understanding of the underlying situation and problems liek this might reoccur in the future, possibly leading to other difficulties.
