This is a bid of an unusual request

Postby Sophie123 » Fri Oct 23, 2009 7:26 pm

Hey everyone,

I am a freelance journalist writing an article on domestic violence – both verbal and physical. Do you have a story to tell? Would like to communicate advice and share experience with potential new abuse victims? I am particularly interested in finding out WHY victims stay in an abusive relationship. However, all other story’s would be very helpful too – for example how did you manage to break free or when did you realise you were subject to domestic violence? Basically, do you have a story to tell?

All names can be changed for identity protection. Please get in touch if you have something to contribute. Help will be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure if I am allowed to add an email address in this forum but here we go - sophieeverman@aol.com . I hope to hear from some brave souls soon :)

Ps. I know what you guys have been through - having been in a Physically abusive relationship myself.

Hi,

It's fine to post about this but I have moved it into the survey's and studies forum. A 'shadow' of it will still exist where you originally posted it though. I advise against leaving yor email there as it will be picked up by spam-bots, who regularly patrol this website. Instead - to everyone - please PM Sophie123 who will then give you further info.

You may now have moved on....I was in a very distructive abusive relationship for 11 years. Shortly after I divorced my husband he tried to kill me, my eldest daughter saved my life. I had a break-down, agoraphobia set in, the most awful depression where I wanted to end it all, stress and panic attacks. But I came through this nightmare ... it took about 10 years and the love of my children. Even now, I don't hate my ex-husband....I feel sorry for him that he has lost his children and the joy now of grandchildren.
