Experiences of self-harm

Postby JamesNickles » Thu Jan 21, 2016 6:55 pm

Title: Understanding the experience of individuals who have self-harmed

The Personality and Emotion Laboratory at the University of Missouri is currently conducting a research study to increase our understanding of individuals’ experiences during self-harm and how these relate to certain personality traits and experiences with physical pain. Relatively little research has been done to examine what people experience in the moment when they self-harm. Your participation would be extremely valuable to us in our work on this important topic.

If you decide to participate, you will complete a questionnaire that will take you approximately 15 - 20 minutes. After completing the study, you will have the option to be entered into a drawing to win one of five $25 Amazon gift cards.

A few things you should know:

 All information is kept completely confidential.

 This study is voluntary.

 Some of these questions cover personal and sensitive topics (e.g., self-harm). If you begin the questionnaire and decide that you no longer wish to participate, you are free to withdraw from the study without any penalty or punishment.

 Participants must be 18 years of age and have engaged in self-harm at least once in their life.

If you wish to learn more about the study and participate, please click the link below.

Is taking a psych med considered self harm? What about banging strangers?
