Had “borderline” traits? In therapy?

Postby duncan.gill » Fri Jan 11, 2013 3:41 am

Have you ever experienced borderline traits? Have you ever been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder?

Participate in an anonymous study for the chance to win one of 3 x $100 US Amazon gift vouchers.

This study examines how early childhood experiences influence how we act and feel, focusing upon people who have developed “borderline” traits.

In order to take part in this study you must be:
a) currently or in the past have experienced significant "borderline" traits (or have received a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder). These traits include difficulties in managing emotions, a pattern of unstable interpersonal relationships and being quite impulsive.
b) currently receiving therapy
c) over 18 years old
d) residing in Australia or the United States

To find out more about the study and to complete the questionnaires please go to https://macquariehs.qualtrics.com/SE/?S ... 9YoVvdX0Ql

If you have any questions about this study please contact me (Duncan.Gill@students.mq.edu.au) or Dr Wayne Warburton (Wayne.Warburton@mq.edu.au or +61 02 9850 8643).

I've heard that the "borderline" diagnosis is "just another way of saying we don't know what you are".

Definitely not, though it can be seen that way because other disorders frequently occur within the borderline diagnosis.

Annnd I completed the survey. :-)

Well, Borderline Personality Disorder has nine different categories and you only have to fit five of those nine categories to qualify for diagnosis (for example, I fit seven of them). Therefore you can have any number of combinations and still fit the diagnosis?

But like rusalkagirl said, you can have other diagnoses on top of it? -points to my signature at an example-
