Weed Addiction

Postby checheanna » Fri Sep 28, 2018 4:39 pm

I am just wondering if there is anyone addicted to Marijuana, is it even addictive? I am finding I use it more and more lately and I am scared that I am becoming addicted to it. Without it I can not fall asleep, my mind races and I can not settle. Am I becoming an addict? If so I will get help but I want to know if anyone has had this experience.

I have been through rehab and halfway houses with people who were recovering from weed addiction. Being addicted to weed is possible and depends upon the person. Some learn to sneak and steal to support their habit. It can combine with other addictions, like tobacco and alcohol.
It is real and it can take over.
If you are concerned about your accelerated use, I would speak to a doctor, therapist or counselor about taking an evaluation and possibly getting treatment.
I used to smoke weed when I drank and gave up both together as I always did them both together.
Best of luck to you. :D

Hello :D

I think it is possible to get addicted to anything. People who drink coffee every morning are addicted to that some way or form. I think it's just the intensity of the withdrawals that makes it..serious?

When I accidentally got hooked on pain killers and had to quit cold turkey (only) because I ran out and couldn't get more, the withdrawals were almost unbearable. I literally couldn't sleep at all and was restless for days. I felt like I NEEDED to take more.

When I don't smoke weed, it's more like I'm kinda irritable and music doesn't sound as good but I can get by without going insane. I don't NEED it to sleep but I definitely WANT it for a goodnight's sleep. I, however, do believe that it is a gateway drug - just because I started with it and was slowly but surely introduced to heavier drugs. But a lot of that has to do with the type of people you hang around and how available something is.

Yes and no, when anyone consumes any kind of drug they get less and less high each time cuze the body gets use to the substance, so you need more to get the same effect, the trick is to do a controlled consumption, like the therapy applied on countrys with legalized use, an amount a few days apart, betwen those days regular excercise and fluid intake to purify the body for the next dose, that way you wont get that much resistance to the substance you wont need more of it or stronger drugs, which is often the real problem.

There are absolutely no problems with smoking too much weed. It is a known natural form of medication. You take as much as your body needs. It heals the mind. If you need more, you need to stress less about it and do what is best for YOU.

There is nothing wrong with eating food either , until you want to control it and you find that you can't . There are bad habits and there are addictions . Two rather different animals so to speak . Whether or not a thing is good for you is a moot point in an addictions forum . Addiction recovery is about being in control of our actions instead of being ruled by an impulsive behavior . If someone believes they are addicted to a substance , no matter what it is , they are welcome here for support and encouragement regarding how they choose to address it .

I have nothing against weed . I understand that it has a lot of benefits and your points are valid . But this is an addictions forum and it seems like the member is having a problem with an inability to stop using it and this is worrying him . That's the issue that I see here , not whether to not is is damaging to his health .

Being a clinical psychopath doesn't mean you're not credible or knowledgeable in my opinion . I believe that if a behavior is causing us concern or stress , that should be examined and addressed .

I do not have the ability to feel his concern, but I do think he should look at both sides before he makes a decision that could have bigger consequences. The best place to talk with is a doctor as we are all addicts. I use weed to replace my alcohol addictions. I believe he should talk to his doctor about this as it is considered a natural medication that has many benefits.
