Darn i guess i found this forum too late... But if you ever read this i have had the fear of octopi for as long as i can remember and i don't know where it came from. the different thing for me is that i can barely look, let alone type, the word without getting shivers. So I'm glad that i'm not the only one anymore. i used to get teased about not wanting to go to aquariums at school field trips. but i guess i should have at least one fear since i dont fear anything else...

Can't stand the ****ing things.
Enjoy listening (with the monitor off but sound on) and hearing sealions tearing them to shreds.
The film spectre didn't help much recently.
Had a nightmare of a giant one swimming up a local river recently.
Friends take me around aquairums and warn me in advance of the octopus tank.
Scuba diving is difficult, they really are horrible and ugly to look at, and there uis no one way I am getting in a tank with one.
I think it was horrible hollywood films when I was a boy that started it.
In Britain we got to see a lot of them, 'Popeye' for instance.

THERE'S AN OCTOPUS INSIDE MY HOUSE!!
IT'S STANDING OUTSIDE MY BATHROOM'S DOOR WHISPERING MY NAME...
what do I do, what do I do?
seriously, though.

sea creatures are mostly dangerous, you are right to fear most of them if you're not sure how to deal with that specimen.

I am the next one scared of octopuses. they are amazing creatures but when I don´t expect to see them, It´s a big shock for me. I can´t imagine to meet big octopus in a water. I would probably die because of shock and fear. I think it started whan I was young and read Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne with those terryfying pictures of octopuses. I also watched the movie Invention for Destruction by Karel Zeman inspired by Verne´s books where is also big octopus copied from the first noticed book. Nowadays it´s better for me but as a child I was really scared.
