With ME-I guess it's sort of like the song "Boys of Summer." An empty swimming pool symbolizes the End of Summer, Advancing Age and impending Death. Or, perhaps I fear being seized by Madness and diving off the deep end. I live in the Upper Midwest, which of course has a short outdoor swimming season. I also was kept out of a pool at a Summer Camp when I was four years old...I'd played in the rain and caught cold (this was in 1964) and my Pediatrician kept me out, as the thinking at the time was that It could turn into pneumonia. I also fell into a (full) swimming pool at about age two-and my Father had to fish me out. Full, deep pools freak me out a little-but only when there's nobody else around. Today, I was at my Community Center, and enjoyed the indoor pool. The outside pool has been drained to half depth, in spite of the 93 degree record temperature. Understandably, they did this after Labor Day Weekend. Am shocked there are others out there like ME.
