Samatoform disorder or not

It all started a year and a half ago my wife had passed out. When she came through she was in a lot of pain in her back and hip area. We went to the ER where they had put her on a spine board and neck brace. As time went by the pain became worse the doctors came to take her off the spine board and as soon as they did I could see the relief in her but after that she had lost mobility in her legs. Over the next two days she gained mobility in one leg and then the other on the 4 day. She was released from the hospital. She continued to have pain in her right hip area and for the next year and a half she has passed out at least once every 4 to 8 days and it has not stopped nor has the hip pain gone away. The doctors have done every test I can think of and there is no reason for the pain nor does the passing out. They have just called it somatoform disorder. If there is anyone out there with answers please help.

A couple of years ago, I went through a very difficult period where my memory was failing and I was getting lost going to familiar places in my car, and I was getting into LOTS of severe traffic accidents and getting traffic citations. I also got thrown into a county jail overnight for making a traffic mistake on the road in my car one time during this period. I got charged with driving under the influence of prescription drugs. I was also falling down in my house a lot. I would be standing in one place and then all of a sudden, drop to the ground like a sack of potatoes. I would not lose consciousness during this time. I would just drop with no warning. It happened eleven times in one morning in my house. I got hospitalized at the Veterans Hospital for this condition and was sent through a battery of tests and they came up with nothing, so, they sent me home and it kept happening. I had an appointment with a V.A. pharmacist and he blamed my many medications, many of which were psych meds. My psychiatrist refused to take me off of any of my meds however. After discussing the situation with my mother, we decided that it would be best if I were to enter an independent living facility for seniors. I was 55 years old at the time and eligible. So, I sold my car on the internet and moved into a nice facility in Omaha, NE that provided all the amenities including transportation, housekeeping and meals. I have been very happy here for the last year and a half. I can have my cat and my piano and my computer and that is all that I need.

I am happy to report that since I moved into this facility, I have been eating better, getting better nutrition than I was providing for myself at home. And this has helped my cognition greatly. Also, since moving in, I have gone from exercising twice a week, to everyday, and that has made me much stronger and has also helped my cognition. Also, I now take special nootropic pills that help my memory, that I get online. This has greatly helped my cognition too.

I have improved so much that I may not even need to live here anymore. But, I stay here because I love it here. I am spoiled now. And besides, I am too afraid to take up driving again. I doubt I will ever drive again. But, living here has taught me that it is possible to get along in this world without a car. For that education, I am grateful.
