sometimes i would get these strange ideas in my head that there were always people watching me. when i was in the school bathroom with no one else in there i imagined that the smoke detector was really a camera and there were people sitting in a security room watching me and laughing at how stupid i am. sometimes i when i am walking around a store i get strange ideas that there are hidden cameras everywhere and people are laughing at me on a game show where everyone i know watches. are these normal in social anxiety disorder?

Anxiety is not a cause but a symptom. You may need to get in touch with your inner self. Do you love yourself unconditionally? If not work towards it. Talk to yourself in a loving way. Learn to look back at yourself in certain situations and tell yourelf exactly what you needed to here. Like a mother to a child. You are feeling exposed. If you accept your own humaness you will become less critical of yourself and others. Try to just be in the moment. Think about that old saying it's somthing like- what someone says about you behind your back is no of your bussiness. This can really take a load off your mind. Who cares, right?:)

first of all i am going to have to say that you did not answer my question at all. i think that you should read the question again and provide a new response. i am asking you if you get paranoid sometimes that people are watching you in cameras. i am asking you if you have any of these irrational paranoias in your disorder like i do in mine. i am asking you. i did not write this article to be asked about if i love myself unconditonally. i cant even understand your response at all. i think that you need to re-assess.

No, I do not feel as though I am being whatched through cameras all of the time.
However, my point is that once we begin to focus on ourselves, we focus less on the world around us. I just want to give you some advice and get you thinking about different ways to overcome the paranoia. You are just one unique individual on this earth, so do you ever think it is irrational to have these thoughts? I know it's hard when you understand that something is irrational but do it anyway. That's why you have to look inside of yourself. Are you extremely critical of yourself?

yes i am very critical of myself. i have an extremely low self esteem. i once scored a SE-8 on the most popular self-esteem test. i know that i bring all these feelings upon myself, but that is what the disorder is. social anxiety disorder is a disorder of your thinking, like all mentall illnesses really are, because your mind is thinking if you are having trouble dealing with this illness, then i encourage you to visit the following website,
