I've dealt with anxiety since I was about 4 (I'm 23 now) and a myriad of other mental health problems. I've worked in retail, house keeping, at an amusement park, and now I work in peer support (which is very social, I've had to adapt over the last 2 years).
I think the least anxious jobs I came across were ones where I'm stocking or have minimal contact with the public. I actually enjoy boring, repetitive things because then I know what to expect and my anxiety doesn't get out of control--because a lot of the times that's what anxiety is about, control. Social situations are very unpredictable and that can cause a lot of anxiety around what do we say. how do we act, are we being judged, e.t.c.
I would say try out a few things. It might make your anxiety sky rocket but you really aren't going to find what works for you until you give it a try. I found working in finances not very anxiety provoking because I was away from people most of the time and worked underneath the amusement park. Housekeeping also had minimal contact with people. I would not suggest retail. God. Never. Again.
Anyway, that's my two cents.
I like living in the world in my head because I'm in charge half the time.
