Five years ago I went to the doctors to ask if he would prescribe me some medication for my anxiety. I explained that my anxiety triggered in certain situations where attention was on me, such as public speaking, training courses talking out loud and role play, etc. He said he would refer me to a therapist. I told him that I have tried everything like that and nothing ever helps me, I just needed some medication for my anxiety for these situations and I would be fine. But he refused to help in this way.
I start a new job next week, I can't believe I have put myself out there for such a responsible job, but I got it. Last week I received in the post my training plan. Oh god, it makes me so scared just thinking about it, lots of training courses, role play and even having to do a talk. My anxiety simply will not allow me to do this.
I have since moved to a new city since five years ago and I have an appointment to see a GP tomorrow. I am wondering if anyone has any advice on how to be prescribed medication for anxiety rather than them to say they will refer me to a therapist.
Thanks for any advice.
