Blushing without any reason

Postby Regi123 » Thu May 03, 2018 12:27 pm

I blush whenever I'm afraid to blush. When I'm in a conversation I sometimes lose my concentration and become afraid. Something my brother said a year ago made me feel so bad, since then I lost all my self confidence. I can blush when someone is talking to me and I'm just listening. It's getting worse, I can't control it. I don't know how to temper this fear from blushing, and the blushing itself.

I had dinner with my family at my grandma's place. He told me I can't get any better girl than someone else's girlfriend. I had a relationship with a girl back then who had a boyfriend and despite my shame for doing what I did I loved her and kept believing she would eventually choose me, which she didn't ofcourse.

a quick bit of script from my favourite film, john boorman's 'excalibur' ...

Arthur: A king must marry, after all.

Merlin: So it seems.

Arthur: I love her. If only she'd be my queen....

Merlin, can you make her love me?

Merlin: Now, look.

I once stood exposed to the Dragon's breath...

...so a man could lie one night with a woman.

It took me nine moons to recover...

...and all for this lunacy called love...

...this mad distemper, that strikes down both beggar and king.

Never again!

Never!

Arthur: Who will I marry then?

You can tell me that at least.

What do you see?

Merlin: Oh, Guenevere.

And a beloved friend who will betray you.

You're not listening. Your heart is not.

Love is deaf as well as blind.

... and that's the thing: love has no rhyme or reason.

so, your brother decided it might be a good idea to humiliate you over this - that's pretty shameful stuff on his behalf.

Yes I know... It wasn't a very kind statement to bring out. My mom asked why my face was as red as a tomato. I said I didn't know. My brother knew perfectly well but I don't think the rest of the table knew that. They were just looking at me, making things worse ofcourse. My mom wanted to go see a doctor because she didn't understand why I randomly blush.

After a few minutes the blushing stopped. When we were talking about something else another few minutes later, out of nowhere I started blushing again. Since this day I blush randomly. I can't keep my focus on conversations anymore without fearing that I will blush. I make all sort of weird moves with my mouth when I'm trying to focus. When I start to blush my heartbeat rises and I sweat heavily. I have to run away from the person I'm talking to, otherwise it won't stop. I've never been like this so it's pretty weird that this sentence could change my social life.

Before this I never had any sort of social problems. I have alot of friends, but never having a girlfriend does affect my self-confidence.

I need t

so, your brother has triggered this whole thing and now you can't get it under control. if i were you, i'd try a little self-hypnosis. you just need a mantra. i'd probably go for a line from alanis morrisette's 'hand in my pocket' ...

everything's gonna be fine, fine, fine.

... whenever you feel the anxiety building, just focus on slowly and calmly repeating those words in your mind. with a little practice, you should find that you don't feel quite so out of control anymore and the anxiety will abate.

Just to point out that every cloud has a silver lining, for some people, another person blushing can be a quite endearing thing. I should view it, if I knew you, as nothing more than a quirk, possibly a very attractive one. I know you feel very exposed when this happens- I'm not trying to tell you it's nothing, obviously to you it's a very big deal! But looking at it from the outside, it's not a complete evil. Not in the right company, anyway.

Even so, I hope you can help yourself as Shock suggested, or get some help in not having these fits of blushing. It's amazing what our brains can do to us, sometimes, that affects us in very physical ways.

This is called Erythrophobia . Have you eve heard it before? If not, please search on google
I have been excessive blusher since 1999-2000. Iknow how you feel. It is reall embarressing. Fear of blushing, even If you are not blushing, you have fear of blushing. Please see a doctor, As far as know there are no effective cure exclusively for blushing . I don't know how old are you but If you are a teenager, and If It has just started , see a psychiatrist . Maybe a professional help can help reduce psychological effects of erythrophobia.
Best Luck
