I suffer from GAD, panic attacks and some social phobia.
What I learned is to recogize the what the triggers are, writting them down on paper. Where you were, what you were doing, the symptoms, the automatic thoughts. Then you can work from there taking the tiny steps to make it go away.
For me Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy was something that safe me, to help me though feeling anxious and sick about certain thing. Also alot of positive-self talk, I'm not able to talk myself out of being anxious.
Anticipatory anxiety for me is the worse, thinking the the worse will happen before it does...
There are some great books out there for anxiety, and 2 that helped me out are: The Anxiety & Phobia Workbook by Edmund J Borne, ph.d & Don't Panic by R. Reid Wilson, ph.d
Can you go to your doctor and explain the anxiety?
What do you feel will happen if you go do the things that make you anxiety ridden?
What I've also learned is that no matter how panicky and sick you feel, once you step over that line that gets you where you have to be the anxiety disappears....
Also one thing that also helps with anxiety, and is known for calming you down is what is called Abdominal Breathing...
Here's a link on how to do it:

The key to the breathing is to keep your chest still and only let your stomache move, it takes some getting used to but helps. I've been dealing with anxiety for over 10 yrs now. I used to be bed ridden because I was so over-whelmed with anxiety, now I do everything I would never consider doing.
