Haven't tried Zoloft. Tried a multitude of other meds though.

If all you're having is side effects, and you don't feel like you can deal with it anymore, or if you're not willing to give it more time, it would be good to head on back to whatever psychiatrist/GP prescribed it to you and inform them about this. A lot of meds that were labeled to treat anxiety make anxiety worse because there's no real clear understanding about the role of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. SSRI's like Zoloft increase serotonin because in some people with anxiety it's seen that serotonin low compared to whatever half-assed control the researchers use. However, there is an equal amount of people with high serotonin and anxiety. So for some of us that's how our anxiety looks biologically.

So, that being said, the increased serotonin may be the opposite of what you need.
I like living in the world in my head because I'm in charge half the time.

Give it a minimum of 6 weeks. I first tried Zoloft after the birth of my 2nd child so around 12 years ago. It worked a treat, I felt so great I was off all anti depressants after 6 months. 2nd time I tried it 3 years later it had absolutely no effect. Can't explain that really, but I guess medication also needs to be combined with lifestyle changes, dietary changes and therapy etc. also what works for some doesn't work for others.

Zoloft only worked for a few weeks for me, but never solved the anxiety issue. I recommend Wellbutrin or an anti-histamine.

I'm new here and as my social phobic heart must make sure to mention, sorry if I'm doing anything wrong at posting here? Idk, this is my first post. Rules are confusing so I'm kind of just winging it and hoping I don't piss anybody off.

Anywho, I've heard some good AND bad things about Zoloft. I was considering it for myself so I did some research. A couple girls in Youtube videos said that it worked for them, specifically that it gave them confidence. but I then one of the girls ended up going through some $#%^, like looking in her video history was kind of not a good advertisement for Zoloft. She gained a lot of weight and body image issues with that and seemed to change her gender presentation all of a sudden too? Just for a couple videos, and then she went back to dressing the same once she was off Zoloft.

In all honesty, I just feel like SSRIs in general aren't the most effective thing for social phobia. They don't seem to have a lot of supporters who actually have tried them. Celexa did zilch for me. Doctors freaking love SSRIs for some reason, but I don't hear enough positive testimony from actual takers of them to make the desperate SSRI-pushing seem logical.
