Hi, i have schizophrenia but that's taken care of because my medications are doing great on me. Even my psychiatrist says that i respond very well to medications. However, at the moment i am suffering from a very bad case of social phobia.
I am even socially phobic towards my parents, for God's sakes. I am just always trying to avoid being with my parents.
What can i do?
Thanks in advance.

Don't know if I can be very helpful, but since no one else is speaking up...
It's really great to hear that meds are helpful for the schizophrenia.
The social phobia is WAY easier to work with... responds well to behavioral (and cognititive behavioral) therapies. Some people even do well with self-help bibliotherapy for it.
As for social phobia with parents... what's not to like. If I have social phobia it's ONLY w/parents. Working for me... but then I've avoidant. (sorry: not trying to make little of how uncomfortable it may be for you.)

yes it does.
Hi. I feel socially anxious around my parents sometimes too. Not a fun place to be at all. In fact i think i've probably been socially anxious around myself at times. with my parents i've found that alot of the stress comes out of wanting to change who i am around them. I have not found that to be very easy.
thats just me though, could be anything i guess. Do you ever feel really "out of it" like almost a dissociation with life sort of feeling?
anyway, I've been taking 60 mg of buspirone for my anxiety and it's been starting to work okay i guess. I haven't been AS anxious in general for a little while.

Life dont sucks! Life can be great!Schizophrenia sucks, that is true. But I also know that a lots of schizophrenic people are great people. You can not treat schizophrenia but you CAN treat social phobia.Trust me, the best combination for social phobia is Seroxat (Paxil) and Klonopin!
