Irritable Bowel Syndrome and losing weight

Postby anavae » Sun Mar 12, 2017 1:32 am

Hi everyone! First of all, english is not my mother language so sorry for my mistakes. If you don't understand what I am trying to say, feel free to ask me so that I can make myself clear.
Anyway, I am a 20 years old student girl and I have anxiety issues. Almost two years ago I was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (which is mainly caused by stress and anxiety) and since then I am keep losing weight without my will. I have around 114 pounds and 5 ft 7 in height after losing over 28 pounds. I am afraid to eat because my digestive system blocks when I am stressed or anxious (and I am usually stressed and anxious no matter what) and I am forced to take laxatives in order to make it functional again.
I look pretty thin and people tend to talk about my appearance in a bad way which totally triggers my anxiety. I was severly bullied from 11 years old to 15 and I can't stand people talking ah*t about me again. It's just a vicious cycle. Because of my anxiety => I am afraid to eat => I look too thin => people say mean things about my eating habits and call me anorexic because of laxatives => my anxiety is triggered and everything starts all over.
I was hospitalized twice because of this syndrome and I am forced to follow specific diets to easen my digestion - not so helpful.
At the moment I don't have any financial possibility to see a therapist so any piece of advice would be helpful. And sorry for the long post. *hugs*
