Hello, I am new here. My anxiety began as a child due to excessive punishment and external stresses. This resulted with me being on 'flight or fight mode' 24/7 around people. The social aspect of the anxiety was due to years of isolation which stunted the progression of social skills.
My life long social anxiety was never dealt with until recently. The doctor put me on a medication called Paxil which has obliterated any anxiety and made me more of an extrovert.

How do you deal with anxiety?

Hey

For me, it helps if I don't go through certain social situations alone, I'm much more tranquil if I take a friend with me. If it isn't possible to take someone with me, I try to meet up with a friend or at least chat before the social event. Having the company of an accepting and appreciating friend boosts my ego so to say and therefore I'm not so scared to enter a social situation and am not so much torn down if someone treats me badly.
