Do I have this or am I just shy?

I am not afraid of crowds or anything like that. But when I'm around people I'm not like really friends with I don't talk that much. I have some pretty close friends and I can joke around with them and all.

Like when I'm with like 6+ people that I know and am friends with it's fine but if two or three of them aren't my friends I would just clam up sort of and am too shy to really be myself. Like one time my sister and I invited both of our friends over for a get together type of thing, and she invited 3 of her friends and I invited 5 of mine. When we decided to like walk to the movies, pretty much during the whole walk I only talked a little just because I don't like jokking around or being myself infront of people I'm not close with. It doesn't get worse like I won't get nervous, I just barely talk. It's like my mind is just blank and can't think of anything funny to say.

Personally, I don't think you have anything to worry about. A lot of people are shy, and sometimes it can be hard becaue it can make it difficult to make friends, but as long as you can have fun and relax with your friends, I think you're okay. And you aren't afraid of crowds, so I think you're okay. Being shy is a pretty normal thing, or at least that's what I think, unless you become painfully shy.

I don't know if you have social phobia or not, but it dosn't sound like you do, allthough it dose sound like yiu have some mild anxieties around people. I wouldn't say it should present that much of a problem though, as element says what you feel is very common. Espically with people you don't know.
