dreams of murder

Postby Aklira » Fri May 13, 2011 11:43 pm

I have dreams every night of my whole entire family, four siblings and parents being murdered in front of my very eyes, in different ways. Drowning, true murder, eaten alive, burned in a field, anything, but they all die, screaming in pain and terror, and I wake up crying, hyperventilating. It's been happening for years, and my family has gradually doubted me more and more about my night mares, and now I have to keep my door shut when I'm asleep not to annoy them. I don't know how to get rid of them. Sometimes i have a good dream, maybe once a week, or i might get lucky and not have a dream at all, but usually its a nightmare. someone help me please with this, because i have tried virtually everything, and nothing has helped. I hardly get any sleep, and having rings around my eyes seem now almost permanent. My parents sometimes yell at me for them because they think I purposely stay up late for no reason, but it truly isn't true! help if you can, if not, hat's no problem, just thanks for reading! =D

Hey,

Dreams/nightmares are basically a reflection on what is on our mind a lot. I've had dreams about family members being hurt, but I immediately dismissed them as nonsense when I woke-up, and then never thought about them again. In your case, you were obviously very worried about the very first dream and you then began thinking more and more (...if even obsessing...) about it. That meant that you were more likely to dream about the same thing again.

So, I think that recognising the unimportance and lack of significance that the dreams have is the best approach here. If you 'dismiss' them as being nonsense, like I did, then you might begin to think about them less and less. They are just dreams and are no reflection on reality. Might I also suggest that you go to a counsellor for, perhaps, once a week just to talk about this. The more talking you do about the dreams, the less fear you will feel about them.

Take care

Individuals with dreams of murder or suicide will sometimes get easily agitated or have resentment towards someone. Many times, these can be treated with alternative remedies rather than traditional ones. If you want to find a solution that doesn't require expensive medication, here are some tips that may help.

Chamomile into a bath
Kava Kava or Valerian root
Increase dopamine levels by increasing your intake of B vitamins
Chamomile tea before bedtime
Lavender essential oils in the bath
Drinking peppermint
Powdered lavender incense
