REM Behavioural Disorder

Postby Son » Fri Apr 22, 2011 3:48 pm

Gonna post this in a few boards because I'm not sure where it belongs.

I punch my partner in the face when I sleep. I don't remember it... just when he's shaking me to wake me up and get me to stop. I also scream in my sleep. I also say things like, "###$ you asshole!!!" A few times recently I've been able to recall the nightmare I'm having and in it I'm fighting someone that abused me/defending myself from attackers. I have PTSD.

Anyone have this? Any sccessful treatments?

this is little used, though most Dr will know of it. Prazosin 1mg @night. its an oldtime bloodpressure medication, much lessens the anxiety, physical acting out, racing heart and thoughts that ramp up severity of episode.. current life stress /problems drive increase and severity of thrashing/actions. -its my only opinion, that ssri types raise brain activity to induce night terrors. peace.

thx man. yep did a sleep study wired and monitored in the hospital and it wasn't REM disorder. just that my SSRI's were making me uber sensitive to my snoring and waking me up, literally, every 45 seconds. and not totally awake just stage 2 or 3 sleep. So i wasn't aware just awake enough to act out.

she said it was surgery or a special thing to wear at night that would prevent me from snoring. niether covered by my insurance lol
