I shoplifted quite a bit when I was in high school. I almost got caught once when the alarm went off but I ran away. Then in my twenties, I did it on two occasions. The first one happened when the cashier girl told me I couldn't buy my stuff because I opened the soda before purchasing it. So I just snatched the bag right out of her hand and ran home. The second one happened in a grocery store, and I stole some sushi because I didn't have any food stamps left and I was hungry. Neither place involved the police, but I was humiliated. Everyone in the store who heard our conversation was probably staring at me. I remember saying "I'm a Christian!" using God's name to deceive. I was pretty pathetic. I just never wanted to have to go through anything like that again, and I saw what could happen if I continued to shoplift. The guilt was overwhelming me, and I knew I could never do it again. I couldn't be dishonest like that anymore.

Hi,
So, in that one instant, you gave up shoplifting? With addictions, I think that some people reach such a point: Thy eventually reach a point where they say that 'enough is enough' and thy vow to rid themselves of the addiction. It's how I overcame bulimia the first time around, but I have other addictions too. Anyway, good luck to you.
