Hi,
The best thing to do is to plan what you want to buy before going into the shop, and then wwrite this on a list. Then, write the expected price for each item too and add it up. The next time you walk into the shop, only buy the items on the list, and nothing else. This might not work the first time, but don't ever give up trying.

to avoid doing the same act again, just think of the consequences that you might get caught and have a criminal record again. It will create a bad reputation. If you can't resist to shoplift, remind yourself that it will harm you more that it will give you the satisfaction and pleasure. Just bring money in your pocket everytime you shop, so when there's an urge to steal, force yourself to pay it in the counter.
