Non-Situational Retarded Ejaculation?

Postby DeCaMil » Wed Dec 07, 2005 11:03 am

Most of what I have found on RE describes "situational" RE. (i. e., climax is possible via masturbation, but not with a partner.)

What do you do when the situation makes no difference?

For me achieving climax can require up to 3 hours of stimulation whether I am with a partner or alone. This isn't anything new, it's been like that for as long as I can remember. However, this year it finally reached the point where I *have* to do something. I have developed RSI's of the wrist and shoulder from masturbation. (How sad is that?)

The few mentions I have seen of non-psychological / non-pharmaceutical causation all relate to neurological damage. If this is the case, can anything even be done?

A generalized problem with RE is more common and a bit harder to treat that the situational type.

However, by far the majority of men with either type of Retarded Ejaculation can masturbate themselves to orgasm within minutes while alone. This is because sexual and other types of anxiety usually only occurs when you are with a partner.

In your situation the first thing I would check out with a doctor is if there may be some kind of physical problem holding back your orgasm. Some kinds of drugs, diabetes, heart disease, low hormone (testosterone) levels and Central Nervous System disease can all cause RE. But a psychological cause too is not out of the realm of possibility.

Get yourself a full physical with a doctor. Tell him what's going on. I'm sure you will find out what the problem is.

Please check to see if you have an organic or biochemical problem such as low thyroid, low testosterone, high prolactin or the big one for anorgasmia - side effects from use of various (most) antidepressants. Your problem may come as a side effect of any number of medications - talk to your doctor about it. Type in anorgasmia, delayed ejaculation, retarded ejaculation, delayed or retarded male orgasm, genital or penis insensitivity at www.pubmed.gov or Yahoo, Google or Google Scholar at search and start reading the abstracts and national medical library journal articles about your problem. Read about arginine, nitric oxide (N0), prostaglandin E1 and oxytocin in relation to penis sensitivity. Lastly, go to the forum again about situational RE and read all the good postings from many, many good people about RE and extrapolate from it to your situation. I think that I've helped remind others there that one needs to determine beforehand if one has a biochemical and/or neurological problem before anything else because you don't want to find this out years later thinking that it was only a case of psyogenic or psychological dysfunction. Otherwise, it simply may waste too much of your time before you find an answer!
