A burden

Postby Desperate dad » Sat Sep 03, 2005 6:54 pm

Hello.
I have a spinal injury of the lower back and it has (obviously) affected my sexual functions & performance. I still get a normal erection but have no control over ejaculation. This sometimes happens as quickly as the moment I reach my full erection. My doctor has prescribed viagra for me and I am about to try it out.

Besides this Viagra lifeline, is there any hope/remedy to overcome this problem or do I just live with it? The problem is that I am loosing interest in sexual activities with my wife 'cos I ejaculate too soon (and as mentioned, sometimes immediately) and then the rest of the sexual foreplay becomes a burden.

I would appreciate any help and/or advice

Dad--- I really don't see how Viagra is going to help unless an effect of your injury is difficulty getting erect. As a matter of fact if you are ejaculating too quickly then Viagra may make that situation even worse as it does tend to make the penis a bit more sensitive.
On the other hand if being able to ejaculate is a problem then Viagra may be of some help but probably not that much.

If you are ejaculating too fast then you might be better off taking a low dose of an SSRI anti depressent such as Paxil which will slow down the ejaculatory reflex. This however, should be done under a doctor's supervision as too much can shut down both your ability to ejaculate at all and/or kill your sex drive. In men with premature ejaculation though, Paxil does work. I'm not sure but I believe you don't have to take it every day to get the retarrded ejaculation effect-- just take it a few hours before having sex. Like I said, I'm not 100% sure about this type of dosing regime. Again, check with a doctor.

Premature Ejaculation (PE)

A premature ejaculation is the inability to control or to delay ejaculation as long as the male wishes, often resulting in distress for the individual or his sexual partner. Current estimates suggest that over 33% of males experience premature ejaculation, making this the most common dysfunction in males under 40 years of age! The primary causes of this dysfunction are normally attributed to factors like high stress and anxiety levels, prostate infections, testosterone imbalance, high blood pressure etc. There are several courses of treatment for this dysfunction. One of the methods of treatment suggested is the withdrawal or squeezing of the penis during sexual intercourse (just before ejaculation). This serves to stop penile stimulation and consequently prevent premature ejaculation. For severe persistent cases of premature ejaculation, serotonergic anti-depressants or SSRIs (eg: Seroxat, Prozac, Cipramil, Zoloft) are prescribed. Those wishing to deal with premature ejaculation naturally, we recommend Ikawe Herbal Forumula

I don't understand why you were prescribed Viagra if your erections are normal. If your ejaculation was delayed I can see Viagra being used to increase penis sensitivity. But if premature ejaculation is your problem the better drug to use would be an SSRI antidepressant such as Paxil or Prozac taken a few hours before intercourse. These drugs will not effect the non depressed person but the side effect of retarded ejaculation has been used to treat P.E.

Here's some info from:

http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic643.htm

"The most effective pharmacologic modality found to aid men with PE is a drug from the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) class, drugs which are used normally as antidepressants in the clinical setting.

* Some tricyclic antidepressants with SSRI-like activity also achieve the same result.

* Many of these agents have been found to have, as a side effect, a tendency to cause both male and female patients to experience a significant delay in reaching orgasm.

* For this reason, medications with SSRI side effects have been used in men who experience PE."

o ooooo! the anti depressant or ssri sounds like a perfect! solution to this problem, i've been on them and it always makes you sex drive slow down, and it harder to orgasim, so talk wiht a doctor and try it, i think it would relaly work for you if it was a low dose, very low, remmeber that, i'm talking like 5 mg of somthing, were depression patients are prescribed starting at 20mg, adn if it doens't work, then try a little higher, i really would liek to hear it this works for you, good luck:)
somtimes, it's like i want to touch these lights, and give into them become them, just a flash for a moment~in this world

I don't know find Viagra will help you with your ejaculation problem if the main reason is if you are having problem with your nerve endings. The best method that you could do is to improve the condition of your nerve endings with the help of some therapy. And then if you have improve the condition of your nerve endings then that is the time that you will try or add some medication therapy to have a better sexual life.
