Dyspareunia, possibly due to vaginismus or fear

Postby Accuracy » Thu Dec 22, 2016 11:54 am

Hi everyone

I am 21, female. I tried to have sex with my bf a month ago, my first time, but I experienced extreme pain when he try to penetrate. My doctor said it may be psychological fear and I need to talk to out with a psychologist. I researched online and there seemed to be some options for treatment, like pelvic floor training from specialised physiotherapist and seeing a sex therapist or using vaginal dilators as home treatment. Anyone here experienced this? Since trying it the first time and failing for multiple attempts in the same session, I feel my sex drive has lowered significantly.

Any advice if someone has gone through this?

If it was your first time having sex, I would say to give it another try before coming to any conclusions about disorders because it's very normal to feel pain the first time.
If not, I would go to a psychologist or sex therapist to see if there are any underlying psychological associations or issues with sex because if you turn immediately to vaginal dilation it could make you PHYSICALLY able to be penetrated but not necessarily emotionally or psychologically ready.
