I dont see why AS would be connected with any specific sexual "kink". AS is a mental deficet in in social and communication skills in a person with above average intelligence and normal language skills.
They can't touch me while I'm alive, and after I'm dead, who cares?

i had read that many forms of autism were accompanied by atypical sexual behavior, but it seems that most with AS are fortunate to have any sexual relationships, so i guess the question is perhaps not broadly applicable

I have AS but have nothing that would considered unusual sexual desires. I certainly don't think the two subjects have anything to do with each other.

Interesting. Do you remember where you read that?

I have AS and extreme sadistic fantasies. My self-harm habits are also pretty extreme, but they are more related to anxiety than sexual relief. At 37, I have given up hope on ever having sex in real life.

Underwear fetish

Postby thatsrich » Tue Mar 13, 2007 1:44 pm

At 42 I have just been diagnosed with AS. I have been reading up on the subject and it became apparent that AS may have something to do with my underwear fetish. I collect underwear that I find sexually arousing.

I am in a steady relationship and have been married... with three kids.

It was this link that I typed into google to find this forum topic!

But relating to my 'kink' Aspies like collecting things. And Aspies often have heightened senses of touch. I can imagine that someone who can not have a normal relationship may well satisfy their sexual desire with material objects... I certainly did before I 'learn't' how to chat up a woman. Actually to tell the truth I still do in 'moments alone'!!!

What on the surface could appear like a 'fetish' might be just another autistic pre-occupation, or related to touch/senses.

I've heard very few connections between autism and fetishes and I've been trying my best to stomp out this accusation for a while now.
I refuse to believe a specific mental condition or ANY mental condition has to do with fetishes (that does not cause distress and is not a danger.)
If I had to connect a disorder to my fetishes, it would be Complex PTSD and Schizotypal Personality Disorder, which, both disorders gave me odd thinking and behavior.
Now my trauma has nothing to do with my fetishes, but it gives me odd thoughts, which activates the Schizotypal thoughts.
I have made countless posts expressing my opinion that just because you have a weird sexual fetish, no matter how weird it is, does not necessarily mean you have a disorder.
This has been like the 5th or so time of seeing this which because I've only heard the connection rarely and there is no scientific evidence, proves my point.
You could be blue jean Joe who is mentally healthy but has the most weirdest fetish on this planet!
Like I said, we need to stop connecting unrelated things with other things, and we need to stop connecting something that is fine (aka fetishes) with something unrelated, especially a disorder.
