Since initially posting this thread I have cut back quite a bit to prove that I can. I eliminated the fifth time and made the fourth time an occasional thing for 1-2 days (second day is rare) a week. Usually my frequency is 1-3 times and it seems as though I could take or leave additional times but haven’t really tried completely not doing it. Rather than cold turkey I’m instead trying to gradually cut back and get used to a lower frequency before trying to faze it out.

I have also never had an intimate relationship with another person. I’m not really sure if the two things are connected as there was a period of my life during my adolescence and young adulthood where I was completely celibate and still wasn’t anymore outgoing or driven to have intimate relationships than I am now.

My brother had the same problem (to be honest I don't sure is it problem or not) he've been spending lots of time on different web sites like facebook, vk, okcupid and so on and gazed on photos of girls, I noticed that he masturbated couple of times (but I know that he did it very often). He stopped only when he got married, but I'm not sure that he don't do it again

I’m not sure if this is connected to my situation, but I recall an incident from when I was 13 or 14 years old. It was my brother’s birthday and I had inadvertently locked the keys in my mother’s car. It was a complete accident on my part, but my father didn’t believe this, he struck me and sent me to my room. He would then come in and take his frustration of not being able to easily get in touch with a lock smith on a Sunday out on me physically by striking me several more times in addition to my already being struck previously and being sent to my room for the same offense . I was so relieved when the lock smith came and guests started to arrive, I was honestly fearful that he was going to seriously injure or kill me over something that I swore up and down was an accident (and it truly was). What made the event more traumatizing was the fact that he wasn’t normally like this. He normally had a calm, laid back, demeanor but on rare occasions could be quick to explosive anger that could and occasionally did turn physical. He’d usually just send you to your room if you acted up or he perceived you acting up even if you weren’t.

Based on my own history of what amounted to psychological abuse by my parents, I wouldn't be at all surprised if your masturbation has roots in the trauma you describe. I myself am certainly locked into sexual behaviour — masturbating, or engaging in fetishes — on a daily basis, and I believe that it is mainly an attempt to escape a world in which that I am very uncomfortable. One of the result of the abuse I went through as a child is that I have spent my entire lifetime (71 years) with low self-esteem and not a little anger. Combat in Vietnam, and being seriously wounded, didn't help. For me, my masturbation and fetishes allow me me briefly to escape into a place that is comfortable, at least for a short time.
