Changing Beliefs

Postby robs132 » Tue Jun 16, 2009 11:54 am

What is the best way to change beliefs about a particular activity.

For example how would you change someone's beliefs that - "they will not get any physical or emotional benefit from exercise"

that: "they have tried to exercise but it doesn't do anything"

what are some interventions to change these beliefs?

I was thinking of changing self talk and using modelling.

what else is there?

Give them examples of how it will benefit their everyday life. Be adamant about your feelings, yet don't be over-assertive or over-bearing. If someone has their mind set on a particular opinion, it's really hard to change it, even if you have evidence.
"The Bible tells us to be like God, and then on page after page it describes God as a mass murderer. This may be the single most important key to the political behavior of Western Civilization."

hi robes,

i am sorry to say that you can't change others or their belief, you know you can change yourself and this way you can change your world. There is one thing i would like to tell you and it is we are living in belief running universe, in this whatever we believe we get. So we cant blame others, too.

So think good and keep best beliefs in yourself, if you want to achieve something and yes there are many ways to change them. By exercising and many more. How do you want to change yourself, you know very well this.

Any queries, welcome.

:)

I think you should approach individual / individuals and say something like :

'whats up chubby? Do some exercises'

'hey fatso the gym is waiting'

Do so repeatedly until they will listen.

Insulting people is rarely a good way to get them to listen to you.
